The service provides care for people who have acquired a spinal deformity in childhood or adolescence. Care is provided at both the Royal Infirmary and the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Edinburgh.
What is the Scottish National Spine Service?
Patients referred to the service will undergo an initial assessment and investigation. Following this, a decision will be made about whether a patient is suitable for orthotics (bracing) or surgery.
Reducing spinal curvature and enhancing quality of life are the aims of the treatment.
