Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) is a lightweight form of concrete used primarily in roof construction in the UK from the mid-1950s to late 1980s, with some instances being found in buildings in the early 1990s. It was used in a wide range of buildings in both the private and public sector.
NHSScotland Assure have completed a RAAC Discovery Survey Programme on behalf of Scottish Government to identify where RAAC exists in the NHSScotland estate. Any panels found were risk assessed in line with IStructE guidance with recommendations given for ongoing survey frequency or remedial action.
