NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) is one of Scotland’s national health boards which comes under the provisions of the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act 2019 (HCSA).
The aim of the HCSA is to provide a statutory basis for the provision of appropriate staffing in health and care services, enabling safe and high-quality care and improved outcomes for service users and people experiencing care. This means having the right people, in the right place, with the right skills, at the right time.
The provisions in the HCSA build on arrangements already in place for local and national workforce planning and will support a rigorous, evidence-based approach to decision-making relating to staffing requirements and consideration of service delivery models and service redesign.
