Revision, November 2020. Revisions to the data and text were made on page 8 of the report. This included a revision to the total number of Gram-negative bacteraemia due to the five most commonly reported pathogens in healthcare and community settings and the percentages for each organism in the treemap. These changes are to reflect an update in the number of Klebsiella oxytoca bacteraemia reported in 2019. The Healthcare Associated Infections Annual Report 2019 reflects the work undertaken on healthcare associated infection (HCAI) prevention and reducing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) during 2019. Data are provided for common HCAIs, which are an important cause of severe illness, death, and higher treatment costs. This report details the progress made by Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infection (ARHAI) Scotland to support the reduction of HCAIs in NHSScotland as well as providing data to inform local and national HCAI reduction activities.
