Request

NSS National Procurement procure around £1.4 billion in goods and services each year. For the latest financial year available, I would like to know the total financial value of goods and services procured by NSS National Procurement to businesses based in Scotland. I would also like to know how many Scottish companies NSS procured from, and if possible, the total number of employees within these companies (an average is sufficient).

Please find attached Appendix 1 – NHSS Spend Data 21-22, for the information you have requested. We have obtained this data using Spikes Cavell. This is a program which has functionality that enables buyers to monitor performance in areas such as framework and eCommerce usage. There are a couple of caveats around this data which are as follows:

• Where you have highlighted in the request "businesses based in Scotland’’ and "Scottish Companies’’, we have provided you with information on companies registered in Scotland as a Scottish Business. This means the search will not capture any other UK/European businesses that have a branch/site based in Scotland.

• Under Section 17 of the Freedom of information Scotland Act 2002 (FOISA), an organisation does not have to provide that information if it does not hold that information. NHS National Services Scotland does not hold some of the information relating to the number of employees. Where there are any blank entries in the columns for "Number of Employees’’ and "Supplier Size’’, this is due to that information not being recorded at the time. This information may be available publicly through the individual supplier websites or by contacting the relevant supplier.
