Dear NHS Scotland,

I am making this request under the Freedom of Information Act (Scotland) Act 2002 regarding the supply, cost, and suitability of PPE.

Could you please provide a figure for monies spent on PPE procurement from company Continuum Scotland for the NHS Scotland and social care sector during the coronavirus pandemic.

Could you please provide information on what specific orders Continuum Scotland was paid for (product types, volumes, and monetary values of orders if possible).

Could you please provide a figure or breakdown of the proportion of Continuum Scotland’s PPE that was unfit for use once delivered and therefore not used, and how much was spent on faulty PPE procurement from Continuum Scotland.

I refer to your freedom of information request that we received on 03 February 2023. I can advise you that we have now completed the search of our records and can provide you with the following information:

Could you please provide a figure for monies spent on PPE procurement from company Continuum Scotland for the NHS Scotland and social care sector during the coronavirus pandemic?

£47,300,000 + VAT

Could you please provide information on what specific orders Continuum Scotland was paid for (product types, volumes, and monetary values of orders if possible)?

Product types: Type IIR face masks

Volumes: 110,000,000

Monetary values of orders: £47,300,000 + VAT

Could you please provide a figure or breakdown of the proportion of Continuum Scotland’s PPE that was unfit for use once delivered and therefore not used, and how much was spent on faulty PPE procurement from Continuum Scotland?

None of the masks purchased were unfit for use resulting in £0 being spent on faulty PPE from Continuum Scotland.
