Could I please make the follow FOI request:

  1. The Total prescription spend each year for Ostomy supplies (prescription spend) in Scotland from 2012 up until and including 2021.
  2. The Total number of Ostomy patients in Scotland from 2012 up until and including 2021.

Response

I refer to your freedom of information request that we received on 20 March 2022 requesting the following information.

I can advise you that we have now completed the search of our records and can provide you with the following information:

  1. The Total prescription spend each year for Ostomy supplies (prescription spend) in Scotland from 2012 up until and including 2021.

Total prescription spend each year from 2015 to 2021 can be found using the link below, the data is only kept for 6 plus 1 years so cannot provide anything prior to 2015. https://www.opendata.nhs.scot/dataset/prescriptions-in-the-community.

Under Section 25(1) of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act, an organisation does not require to provide information that the applicant can reasonably obtain other than by requesting it under section 1(1) is exempt information.

  1. The Total number of Ostomy patients in Scotland from 2012 up until and including 2021.

Under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Scotland Act an organisation does not require to provide information if it does not hold that information. NHS National Services Scotland does not hold this information.
