Do I pay for optical examinations?

NHS eye examinations are free to all patients resident in Scotland and other UK residents visiting Scotland, but overseas visitors are subject to the National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2006.

Help with the cost of glasses or contact lenses may be available depending on the patient’s circumstances.
