NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) has published its new Annual Procurement Report for 2023-2024.

Published on 19 December 2024

This year’s report (2023-2024) highlights the efforts and progress of NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) in utilising procurement to provide high quality services and supplies to support the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland, while also benefiting Scotland’s communities and businesses.

Some key headlines from the report:

• Securing funding to transition our managed transport contract to hydrotreated vegetable oil fuel which will reduce C02 emissions by up to 90%.

• Continuing to grow our support of small business. Approximately 54% of our trade spend is allocated to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

• Spend of £950k with supported businesses.

• In addition, 75% of the suppliers invited to quote for requirements worth under £50k were Scottish-owned businesses.

• Our procurement team expertly navigated the challenges of the current financial climate including high inflation levels, increased energy costs, global supply chain issues and labour shortages

Kris Lindsay, Head of NHS National Services Procurement said:

“Our 2023 to 2024 report showcases our purchasing activities including our continued support to drive added value wherever possible.

“In particular, we continue to be proud of our efforts to maximise the impact of our expenditure to benefit the communities we support.”
