National Procurement publishes its 2023 - 2024 Annual Report on behalf of NHSScotland

The National Procurement Annual Report 2023-24 has now been published.

Published on 20 December 2024

This year’s report brings together a number of wide-ranging themes that spotlight sustainable and innovative commercial solutions for NHSScotland along with supply chain solutions that have a lasting and positive impact on Scotland’s patients, citizens and our economy.

Key highlights include:

• We secured over £30 million in financial benefits for NHSScotland through our commercial activity, alongside managing over £1.44 billion in spend

• We created the Heat and Power Purchase Agreements (HPAs/PPAs) category team to support the decarbonisation of our energy systems

• We continued to grow the number of community benefits being delivered across Scotland’s local communities

• Our teams achieved above-target performance on our National Distribution Service operational performance measures, enhancing product availability and on-time deliveries for our customers

• We supported the establishment of a Net-Zero dashboard for healthcare suppliers - a self-assessment and reporting tool for suppliers to share their sustainability information

Gordon Beattie, Director of National Procurement, said:

“Working closely with colleagues across NHSScotland’s procurement and clinical teams has been key to successful service delivery on behalf of NHSScotland, and some notable achievements too.

“I’m confident we can continue to positively build upon our performance, responding well to the evolving needs of our stakeholders by embedding a culture of sustainability and delivering commercial solutions to improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland.”
